Museum Jorn has in its possession a major collection of symbolist and expressionist Danish art from the late nineteenth century until the 1930s. Asger Jorn was very interested in the art of this period, which provided both the historical background and inspiration for his own art.

The Danish painter, graphic artist, ceramicist and author Asger Jorn (1914-1973) is one of Scandinavia's most influential and internationally renowned artists. The exhibition shows the highlights from the museum's collection of Jorn.

The exhibition shows some of the most significant works from the Ex-school's active period (1961-1969) in combination with later works by the school's representatives. Experience Per Kirkeby, Richard Winther, Lene Adler Petersen and more.

Ernest Mancoba (1904–2002) is considered one of South Africa’s first modern avant-garde artists although he spent most of his life in Europe. The exhibition is an attempt to draw attention to one of the most neglected figures of the post-war avant-garde and the CoBrA movement.

The international Cobra movement (1948-51) was based on openness, equality, collaboration and community with the goal of employing art to unite the world after the divisive conflicts of the Second World War. Yet Cobra comes across as an all-male club whose gender composition has been taken for granted over the years.
