Per Kirkebys masterpieces from the collection
Museum Jorn presents a selection of the most formative Kirkeby works from the collection.
Per Kirkeby (1938–2018) is internationally the most influential Danish artist of his generation. His expressive and ephemeral style helped renew the understanding of Nordic art in the 20th and 21st centuries.
Under the title MASTERPIECES, Museum Jorn presents a selection of the most formative Kirkeby works from its collection. These include early brick installations and experimental masonite paintings, major works from Kirkeby’s international breakthrough in the early 1980s, as well as a number of monumental paintings from his later years.
In addition to well-known classics from the collection, the presentation also features nine new acquisitions, including two paintings from 1994 that have never before been shown publicly and which Kirkeby himself considered among his finest works.
The presentation of Per Kirkeby’s masterpieces from the collection highlights Museum Jorn’s long-standing and dedicated commitment to collecting, preserving, and communicating Kirkeby’s art.
